KUDUS, the city which is well-known as Kretek city, may show us that most of the labors there work in some cigarette companies. In the labors day, some of them held a campaign to the regent office, and some others preferred to decide to have a recreation with their family to some tourism places.
Commemorating the labors day (1/5) some labors that are incorporated in Confederation of Indonesian Prosperous Labor Union (KSBSI) held a campaign in seven square intersection of Kudus, in front of the regent office. When they arrived there and wanted to give two kerandas, some polices have been standby to block them so that they could not pass by the gate of the regent office. It aimed to represent their thought that the regent has decided the minimum wage of regency (UMK), IDR 990.000, is under the decent living needs (KHL), IDR 1.051.000.
Triswadi, one of labors that is joining in the campaign, said “UMK in Kudus is lower than UMK in Demak, IDR 995.000, althought the economic level of Kudus is higher than Demak.”
Responding the statement, The head of labors, Budi Rakhmat, said that the wages councils have discussed the wage determination and conducted the appropriate procedures. He promises that a next year the wage will be adjusted to the decent living needs (KHL).

Another way in commemorating the labors day, some labors with their family decided to visit some tourism places such as Kretek Museum. “We are so happy because we can gather with our family and have fun in Kretek Museum without spending a lot of money because the price of the ticket is only 3.000,- per person. Here, our children can also happily play.”
